Durning Road is chosen as a Monthly Pick at Rome Prisma Independent Film Awards
OFFICIAL SELECTION AT ROME PRISMA
I am incredibly honoured that DURNING ROAD, my first short screenplay, has been chosen as part of the Monthly Picks at the Rome Prisma Independent Film Awards. Durning Road is set against the backdrop of Liverpool in 1940 during a Second World War blitz. This project is deeply personal to me, having lived in the area. So, seeing this narrative travel across the world and be selected at film festivals is an incredibly rewarding turning point in my screenwriting journey.
It is a privilege to be amongst the monthly picks at such an illustrious film awards like Rome Prisma. The festival has an outstanding worldwide reputation. Indeed, it is recognised as the number one most reviewed film festival in Europe on FilmFreeway. As a result of this, it is certainly a highly-competitive hub for international cinema. Rome Prisma select and celebrate independent scripts of any genre. Having my short screenplay acknowledged by the judging panel at Rome Prisma Film Awards is validation as Durning Road continues its festival run.
ABOUT DURNING ROAD
To begin with, writing historical drama requires plenty of research into the personalities and surroundings of the characters in the narrative. This is in order to capture a specific human experience. For DURNING ROAD, my ultimate creative goal has always been to honour the resilient spirit of the wartime generation. Another creative goal is to also to keep the memories of my grandparents’ experiences alive.
Knowing that these specific characters have captured the attention of film award juries internationally is an unforgettable feeling.
