I am thrilled that Béatrice, the Lady won Best Short Drama Screenplay at the very first awards.
Béatrice, the Lady is my second short screenplay. Set in a dense Caledonian forest in the Scottish Highlands in 1560, it follows Lady Beatrix and her younger sister Mally, who flee Beatrix’s volatile husband, James, the Laird of Eaglenock, in a desperate fight to stay alive.
I am honoured to have Béatrice, the Lady recognised, and I would like to congratulate Patrick, Martin and everyone involved in launching this new platform for screen talent.
It is always exciting to see new opportunities being created for screenwriters and filmmakers, particularly through initiatives that bring writing, filmmaking, production and talent together.
Thank you to the Sweeping Plains Screenplay Awards for recognising Béatrice, the Lady with Best Short Drama Screenplay, and for giving me the opportunity to showcase my work to a new audience in Australia.
I am looking forward to seeing what comes next for Sweeping Plains.
Béatrice, the Lady – A Short Screenplay
In a dense medieval forest, Lady Beatrix and her younger sister Mally flee Beatrix’s volatile husband, James, the Laird of Eaglenock, in a desperate fight to stay alive.
As they vanish into the wilderness, Beatrix is forced to consider whether survival depends upon their escape, or on becoming as ruthless as the man hunting them.
